CSCA Skaters Continue the Magic at Nationals!
Huge Kudos to Club members Caitlin Fields (with Jason Pacini) and Douglas Razzano for their
stellar performances at the
2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships! Caitlin and Jason nailed a 2nd Place finish
in the Novice Pairs event and Douglas parlayed two solid performances into a 5th Place finish
in the Senior Mens event! CSCA member Madeline Aaron (with Max Settlage) garnered a 6th Place
finish in the Junior Pairs event and Ice Den training mates Tiffany Vise and Don Baldwin earned a 9th Place

Our CSCA skaters had a commanding presence at Sectionals this
year! Congratulations to Douglas Razzano, Madeline Aaron (with
partner Max Settlage) and Caitlin Fields (with partner Jason Pacini) for
achieving
1st place finishes in Senior Men, Junior and Novice Pairs
(respectively)! Cudos also to Haley Todd and Matthew Rounis for
their 2nd place finish in Juvenile Pairs, Stephanie Wagner and Andrew
Civiello for their 3rd place finish in Juvenile Pairs, Ice Den training mate
Logan Leonesio (with partner Cassidy Klopstock) for their 1st place finish
in Juvenile Dance and Ice Den training mate Lauren Leonesio (with partner
Dustin Perini) for their 4rd place finish in Novice Dance.

Pandora's Unforgettable Moments Ice Show November 12
Start the holiday season early with
Pandora's Unforgettable Moments on Ice, a one-night show featuring host
Kristi Yamaguchi with niine Olympic, World and National skaters performing to
live music by
Mannheim Steamroller! The show will be held at
Grand Canyon University Arena on November 12th at 7:00 PM. The Coyotes
Ice Ensemble is offering discount tickets to the event and holders of the
first 100 tickets purchased through CIE will have early access to watch the show
warm-ups and an exclusive "chalk talk" with a show skater, starting at 5:00 PM.

Razzano Nails Silver at Finlandia Trophy, Earns Spot at Skate America
A Big Huzzah to Douglas Razzano on his stellar season debut at the
Finlandia Trophy 2011, held October 6 - 9 in Vantaa, Finland! Douglas earned
a a 2nd Place Finish in the Men's event after a 1st Place
Finish in the Men's Free Skate event.
The good news doesn't
stop there! Douglas will also be representing the USA at
Skate America, being held October 21 - 23 in Ontario, California. Click

CSCA Skaters Shine at the Inaugural 2011 National Solo Dance Competition
Kudos to CSCA skaters Jaclyn Cartwright and Brianna Fullerton for
their efforts at the first
National Solo Dance competition, held September 23 - 25 in conjunction with
the 2011 Pikes Peak Classic in Colorado Springs, CO! Brianna placed 6th in in
her Pre-Silver Dance qualifying event while Jaclyn had a 2nd Place Finish
in the Pre-Bronze qualifying round and finished 7th in the finals. Click

National Solo Dance competition is offered to the six top solo ice dancers at
each level in each section. If you are interested in competing next year, please

Aaron and Settlage Earn Strong Finish at JGP Baltic Cup 2011
Kudos to CSCA member Madeline Aaron (with partner Max Settlage)
for garnering a 5th Place Finish
in the Junior Pair event this past week at the Junior Grand Prix Baltic Cup 2011
in Gdansk, Poland. Madeline and Max finished 3rd in the Short Program event and
5th in the Free Skate event to round out a USA dominated finish in Junior Pairs!

Congratulations to our Junior Board officers! All positions will
be held for 2 years unless an officer chooses not to serve the second year of
their term. The Junior Board had a very successful fundraising event at the
2011 Cactus Classic
competition and is planning more fundraising events to benefit local charities,
including Homeward Bound. In
addition to fundraising, the Junior Board will be accepting new and gently used
stuffed animals throughout the year to add to charity donations. If you have
stuffed toys you would like to donate, please contact
Michaela Cannon or any Junior Board member.
The next Junior Board meeting will be held October 17, 2011 at 12:00 PM at the
Ice Den. Any CSCA member, aged 10 – 17, who is interested in joining can contact
one of the officers or Junior Board Advisor

Congratulations to CSCA members Nikki Beard, Sarah Kidd, Katy Krupinsky, Karina

2011 National Showcase competition. Everyone did a great job! Special kudos
to Karina for her 1st Place Finish in the Novice Dramatic
event, which earned her a place in the Parade of Champions!

Inaugural Ice Den Skate 8k August 14
Come join the fun at the
Skate 8k
skating and fundraising event on August 14th at the Ice Den! The
Ice Den is teaming up with
Run Drugs Out of
Town and
Home Run 4Kids for
their first Skate 8k charity fundraiser. The fun-filled day starts
at 7:00 AM and all ages and skating levels are welcome. Registration is $20.00
and all participants will receive a hockey jersey and a finisher's medal!
Skate 8 participants interested in charity fundraising will have an opportunity
to set up a fundraising page for several Ice Den non-profit organizations,
including the Tanner Catalano Foundation, Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona,
Coyotes Amateur Hockey Association and the
Coyotes Curling Club.

June 10 - 11: Lights, Camera, Action: Take 2!
Take a break from the heat and come enjoy the
Ice Den Ice Show! The annual event features skaters from the Ice Den's Learn
to Skate program as well as USFS skaters who are coached by Ice Den instructors.
Activities include a 5:00 PM Dress Rehearsal and an 8:00 PM show on Friday, June
10th, with two shows at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 11th. Tickets are
available at the Ice Den Administration Office; 480-585-7465. Come out and
support our local skaters!

Updates on National TOI & Adult Nationals
The Coyotes Ice Ensemble had a great time in Massachusetts competing in
the 2011 National Theatre on Ice competition! The Junior Team earned a 6th
Place Finish while the Novice team garnered a 7th Place Finish in the

At Adult Nationals, Ian Catindig earned Two Silver medals in the
Silver Men's I - II and Men's Light Ent/Comedy Interpretive II - III events,
while Marlene Bernstein placed 8th and 6th respectively in the
Masters Ladies Artistic/Dramatic and Light Ent/Comedy Interpretive IV events.

Ice Ensemble and Adult Nationals Sendoff Parties April 2 and 3
Please join us this weekend as we cheer on the Coyotes Ice Ensemble and CSCA
Adult Skaters as they prepare to compete at the
2011 National Theatre On Ice Competition and the
2011 Adult Figure Skating Championships, respectively. The Sendoff party for
the Coyotes Ice Ensemble will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 4:50 pm
and the Sendoff party for Adult Skaters Marlene Bernstein and Ian Catindig will
occur on Sunday, April 3rd at 4:00 pm. Congratulations to all of our
advancing skaters and Good Luck in your upcoming competitions!
Note: A "post-event" Adult Sectionals Sendoff party will be held concurrently
with the Adult Nationals Sendoff party!
2011 Pacific Coast Adult Sectionals Update
Kudos to Heather Mrowiec on her 3rd Place Finish
in the Adult Ladies Artistic III Event at the 2011 Pacific Adult Sectional
Championships! Ice Den training mates Jose Hinojos and Brenda Wittman
had strong finishes as well. Jose pulled down two First Place
medals in the Artistic Men and Silver Mens II Free Skate, while Brenda had
two Bronze Medals in the Master Ladies Artistic III and Master Ladies
Light/Comedy events, with a 6th place finish in the Masters Intermediate -

CSCA Awards Banquet - Save the Date!
The annual CSCA Awards Banquet and Board elections will be held on
Sunday, May 15th at the
Grayhawk Golf Club, from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Election ballots and
additional information regarding the Awards Banquet will be mailed out to CSCA
members in the next few weeks.

It is that time of year to clean out your closets and bring in your used or new
skating items to be sold at the Annual Dress and Equipment Sale, being held
March 8th - 12th at the Ice Den. Please click

CSCA Club Picnic on February 13th
The CSCA Junior Board is hosting a Club Picnic on Sunday, February 13th from
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Chaparral Park in Scottsdale, at the Central Ramada, on
the SE corner of Hayden and Jackrabbit. The event is open to all CSCA club
members and is a Pot Luck Barbeque.

Douglas Razzano Has Top Ten Finish at Nationals; More Updates
Huge Kudos to Douglas Razzano for his stunning achievements at the
2011 U.S. Figure
Skating Championships!
He skated a commanding short program featuring a clean Quadruple Toe Loop jump,
resulting in a
5th place finish in the Senior Men's Short Program and earning a
spot in the final warm-up group for the Senior Men's Free Skate. Douglas had a
strong Free Skate performance (which we got to see live on NBC!)and

CSCA Novice Pairs Shine at 2011 Nationals
Kudos to Club members Madeline Aaron (with Max Settlage) and Caitlin
Fields
(with Jason Pacini) for their stellar performances in the Novice Pair event at
the
2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships! Madeline and Max took 1st
Place while Caitlin and Jason earned a 4th Place finish

Junior Board to Meet on January 30
Please join the Jr. Board on Sunday, January 30th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at
the Ice Den for a morning of fun and companionship! The Board will be making
flyers and planning activities for the upcoming
Valentine's Day Club Picnic
as well as a Homeward Bound donations project. Remember to contact

Michaela Cannon if you are unable to attend.
Reminder: CSCA club members ages 10 through High School Seniors are encouraged
to attend.
Coyotes Hockey & Ice Ensemble Fundraiser
Get your tickets for the hottest game in town! The Coyotes Ice Ensemble is
selling tickets for two upcoming Coyotes Hockey games, the first scheduled for
Saturday, February 5th against the Minnesota Wild and the second slated for
Tuesday, March 8th against the Vancouver Canucks. The first 10,000
fans attending the February 5th match will receive a Coyotes "wearable" blanket.
As an added bonus, the Coyotes Ice Ensemble will be showcasing their new
programs for the 2011 National Theatre on Ice Competition. The Ice Ensemble
Novice Team will perform during the 1st Intermission of the February 5th game
and the Ice Ensemble Junior Team will perform during the 1st Intermission of the
March 8th match.
Ticket prices are: $50.00 for lower level end zone seats and $20.00 for upper
level sides and end zone seats. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the
Coyotes Ice Ensemble Team. Use the order forms below to purchase tickets
(please indicate on the form whether you prefer to pick up your tickets at the
Jobing.com Arena "Will Call" or at the Ice Den).

Morgan Agster Receives CSAP Award
Congratulations to CSCA skater Morgan Agster! She is the recipient of a
Competitive Skaters Assistance Program (CSAP) award for the coming
year. The CSAP awards, which are provided by the USFS Memorial Fund, help
subsidize the training expenses incurred by competitive figure skaters in the
singles, pairs and ice dancing disciplines. Awards are based on financial need
and competitive history. Visit the

Helen M. McLoraine Scholarship Opportunity
The Helen M. McLoraine Figure Skating Scholarship Program is currently
accepting applications for 2011. The endowment was established in December 2009
to assist current and former amateur and professional skaters who wish to pursue
a college education. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time
undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. Visit

application submission is February 18, 2011.

Updates on 2010 Golden Spin and 2011 Junior Nationals
CSCA skater Molly Aaron and partner Daniyel Cohen had strong skates at
this year's Golden Spin of Zagreb and finished 3rd overall, while Thomas Rapp
and
Matthew Youngs placed 16th and 15th in their respective qualifying groups
