2011 Junior Nationals Send-off Celebration December 10th

Valley Skater Advances to Junior Nationals
Kudos to Skating Club of Phoenix member Dylan McIntee for earning a spot at Junior Nationals with her 1st Place finish in the Intermediate Ladies event at the 2011 SWP Regional Championships. She joins CSCA members Thomas Rapp and Matthew Youngs in representing AZ at the 2011 Junior Championships. Great job, Dylan!

Junior Nationals Exhibition December 5th
Please join us at the Ice Den on December 5th for exhibition performances by CSCA members Thomas Rapp and Matthew Youngs in preparation for the 2011 Junior Championships, hosted in Salt Lake City, UT from December 14 - 18. The exhibitions are slated to start at 9:15 AM, immediately following the test session.

Aaron and Cohen Chosen to Compete at Golden Spin of Zagreb
Fresh off of a fantastic 1st place finish at the 2011 Midwestern Sectionals, CSCA member Molly Aaron and partner Daniyel Cohen (Broadmoor SC) have been assigned to compete at Golden Spin of Zagreb. The international Senior B event will be held December 9 - 11 in Zagreb, Croatia. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the team's schedule, there will be no Send-off celebration. Congratulations to Molly and Daniyel and Good Luck next month in Croatia!

RISE Ticket Sales Start November 15
Public ticket sales begin Monday, November 15 for RISE, a special one-night-only event developed by the U.S. Figure Skating Association and hosted by NCM Fathom. RISE celebrates American figure skating while commemorating the 50th anniversary and legacy of the 1961 U.S. World Team tragedy. The event, originating from the Best Buy Theater in New York City's Times Square, will be transmitted live on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 to more than 500 movie theaters in all 50 states. The broadcast times are listed below:

• 8PM Eastern Standard Time
• 7PM Central Standard Time
• 6PM Mountain Standard Time
• 8PM Pacific Standard Time

The February 17, 2011 event will include uniquely choreographed figure skating performances, interviews with American figure skating legends, a red-carpet celebration and more.

Sectionals and Ice Challenge Update
CSCA skaters had a strong presence at Sectionals and Ice Challenge this year! Congratulations to Molly Aaron (with partner Daniyel Cohen) and sister Madeline Aaron (with partner Max Settlage) for achieving 1st place finishes in Senior and Novice Pairs (respectively)! Cudos also to Caitlin Fields (with partner Jason Pacini) for their 2nd place finish in Novice Pairs and to Morgan Agster and Adam Civiello for their 5th place finish in Junior Pairs.

Meanwhile, half a world away, Douglas Razzano confidently nailed a 2nd place finish at Ice Challenge 2010 and Ice Den training mates Tiffany Vise and Don Baldwin achieved a 2nd place finish in Senior Pairs. Basha's Shop & Give Day, November 14
The CSCA Junior Board is hosting an information table on Sunday, November 14th at the Basha's on Granite Reef and McDonald from noon to 4:00 PM to promote the CSCA Shop & Give program. Shoppers can support CSCA each time they purchase groceries by registering their Basha's Thank You cards with the Shop & Give program. Supporters can also enroll a card by clicking here and entering CSCA Authorization code 28994. Bashas will donate 1% of sales to CSCA from all registered Thank You cards through April 30, 2011.

Club Ice and Halloween Party on October 31!
Please join us on Sunday, October 31st for a Club Ice Halloween skate party from 12:20 to 1:05 PM on the Coyotes rink. All CSCA Club Members are welcome. There will be candy and goodies for all and prizes for the best Halloween costume so get creative and come have some fun!

Douglas Razzano Returns to Graz, Austria for IceChallenge 2010
Best Wishes and Congratulations to Douglas Razzano for being selected to represent Team USA for a 2nd straight year at IceChallenge 2010! Douglas will join fellow Team USA members Lindsey Davis, Themi Leftheris (SR Pairs), Tiffany Vise and Don Baldwin (SR Pairs) to compete at the event, being held November 9 - 14 in Graz, Austria. Good Luck Douglas!

Max Aaron Advances to JGP Final
Congratulations to former CSCA Member Max Aaron for his continuing achievement in skating! Max was selected to compete at the Junior Grand Prix Final following his 3rd place finish at JGP France and 2nd place finish at JGP Japan. These exceptional placements have him ranked 6th in Junior Men in the current ISU International standings. The Junior Grand Prix Final event is being held December 9 - 12 in Beijing, China. 2011 Regionals Update
Our 2011 Regionals Team members turned in several strong performances this year! Special Kudos to Thomas Rapp and Matthew Youngs for earning spots at the 2011 US Junior Championships with their 5th and 6th place Juvenile Freeskate performances at SWP Regionals! Congratulations as well to Camden Pulkinen for earning a 1st alternate position to Junior Nationals with his 7th place finish in the SWP Juvenile event.

The following skaters also had great skates in their qualifying rounds and advanced to the final rounds:

• Caitlin Fields - 5th in QR Novice Ladies, 11th in Final round (SW Regionals)

Junior Grand Prix Update
Club members Morgan Agster and Adam Civiello placed 10th out of 12 teams in the pairs events at the Junior Grand Prix Pokal der Blauen Schwerter 2010 in Dresden, Germany October 6 - 9. They skated well and were amongst some of the top junior pairs teams in the world! Click here to see to the results of the entire competition. Agster and Civiello Chosen to
Compete in Junior Grand Prix Event
CSCA members Morgan Agster and Adam Civiello have been chosen to represent Team USA in the upcoming ISU Junior Grand Prix event being held in Dresden, Germany on October 6-9, 2010. Morgan and Adam have been skating together for the past 3 years and moved up to the Junior level this year. Read more about their assignment and the Junior Grand Prix event series here. There will be a Send-Off celebration at the Ice Den this Wednesday, September 29th at 3:45 PM. Come join us on Wednesday to cheer on Morgan and Adam!

Developmental International Program Event
CSCA members and pair team Morgan Agster and Adam Civiello were among 40 top up-and-coming athletes who participated this past weekend in the Developmental International Program in conjunction with 2010 Skate San Francisco. The program is   offered to all Novice competitors from the 2010 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships as well as the top 5 Intermediate competitors from the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Junior Championships. Cactus Classic Results are Posted!

Junior Board Meeting June 26th
Please join the Junior Board for a meeting, Saturday, June 26th, from 1pm-3pm in the Discovery room at the Ice Den. All club members ages 10 through high school senior are encouraged and welcome to attend. The Junior Board will be preparing for activities and events surrounding the upcoming Cactus Classic competition.

The Junior Board is in need of stuffed animals! Please consider donating any new or gently loved stuffed animals to assist with our fundraising efforts. Donations may be dropped off at the rink with any Junior Board officer, or contact the Jr. Board advisor Patti McNeill to coordinate a drop off.

Ice Ensemble Exhibition & Sendoff
Please join our Coyotes Ice Ensemble team on Saturday, June 19th, at 9:30 AM at the Ice Den as they perform an exhibition of their competition programs before leaving for the 2010 National/International Theatre on Ice competition in Troy, OH on June 25-26. A send-off reception will follow in the Discovery Room. Please stop by and wish the team good luck!

CSCA Junior Board Elections
The Junior  Board is preparing for its annual election of officers. Interested CSCA Club members age 10 through high school seniors need to attend the next Junior Board meeting on April 3 to be considered for the ballot. This is a great opportunity to earn community service hours! 

U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council
Annual Meeting to be held April 29 - May 2 in Costa Mesa, CA. USFS members are welcome as observers, but must be registered as a guest through their club. Please contact Terry Fields, tmsfields@cox.net, if you plan to attend.

CSCA Adults prepare to compete at the 2010 Pacific Coast Adult Sectional Figure Skating Championships and 2010 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships. Please stop by 18° on Friday evening, March 5, to congratulate and wish them the best of luck!

Coyotes Skating Club Board Elections
The CSCA Board is currently looking for candidates to run for the Board of Directors. If you are interested in serving our skating community and enjoy working with others, please contact Terry Fields, tmsfields@cox.net, to be considered for the ballot. A list of interested individuals will be submitted to the nominating committee for review. Selected candidates will be contacted in March by the committee, and will then be placed on the the ballot for the election to be held in May.

Dorothy Hamill to Visit Ice Den
Olympic gold medalist and figure skating superstar Dorothy Hamill will make a public appearance at the Ice Den on Friday, Feb 12, from 6:30 - 8:00pm.

Other past skating Olympians will be in attendance, including Doug Ladret, Canadian Figure Skater from the 1988 and 1992 Games; Mike DeAngelis, Italian Hockey Team from the 1992, 1994 and 1998 Games; and Ryan O’Meara, U.S. Figure Skater from the 2006 Games.

A figure skating exhibition, featuring the Coyotes Spirit Synchronized Skating Team in an Opening Flag Ceremony followed by competitors from the 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Junior, Pacific Coast Sectional and National Championships, will be held from 6:00 - 6:30 pm. Matthew Youngs, Alyssa Hightchew, Max Settlage, Madeline Aaron, Morgan Agster & Adam Civiello, Tiffany Vise & Donny Baldwin, and Douglas Razzano are scheduled appear.
